why vertwo

a studio for craft built for careers.

We're not a freelance marketplace and we're not a sweatshop. We're a long-term studio investing in long-term creative careers for Indonesian artists, on Indonesian soil.

Global stage, local roots

Work on titles for Japanese, Korean, and Western publishers without leaving Jakarta. Your portfolio gains international weight.

Mentorship by default

Every new artist goes through structured onboarding before touching a client project. Senior leads review every panel.

WFA — Working from Anywhere

Work from Jakarta, your hometown, or wherever you focus best. Most production roles are fully remote-friendly with optional studio days for the people who want them.

Caliber titles

You'll work on international-caliber webtoon series for Japanese, Korean, and Western publishers — the kind of titles that move portfolios from local to global.

Real growth path

Junior → Mid → Senior → Lead. Tracked, transparent, and tied to real review milestones — not vibes or favoritism.

Bahasa-first, English-friendly

We work in Bahasa Indonesia internally. English helps for client work but is not a barrier to joining or growing here.

life at vertwo

behind every panel is a team.

Hiring is the start. Here's what working at vertwo actually looks and sounds like, from the people who do the work.

From the team

I joined as a junior colorist three years ago, fresh out of design school. Today I lead a team of five and I've worked on six published series — without ever leaving Jakarta.

Rina Anggraini Senior Color Lead · Joined 2023

The mentorship is real. My first month, a senior background artist sat with me on every panel until my fundamentals were where the studio needed. Nobody ever did that for me before.

Dimas Pratama Background Artist · Joined 2024

I'd been freelancing for years and burnout was real. At Vertwo, sustainable hours aren't a slogan — they hold the line. I draw better because I sleep better.

Sari Kusuma Line Art Lead · Joined 2022

My portfolio went from local to published in Tokyo in two years. The studio backs you with the right titles, the right reviewers, and the right tools to actually do it.

Adi Yudhistira Storyboard Artist · Joined 2024
questions

common questions.

Most of what candidates ask before applying. If your question isn't here, the form has a notes field, or contact us directly.

For art roles (line art, color, background): 8–12 finished pieces that show your strongest work. Original characters, fan art, or commissioned panels are all fine. Include rough-to-final progressions on at least one piece if you have them.

For story roles: layouts or panel sketches showing how you approach pacing and composition.

For editing: a written sample of project coordination — a Notion doc, a project tracker, or a recap of a project you've shepherded works.

Department-specific. Line art: ink a provided rough at the panel level. Background: paint an environment from a script line. Color: color a provided line art file. Story: layout 5 panels from a script excerpt. Editing: build a 2-week production schedule from a brief.

Test materials are released through your dashboard once your application is screened. You work locally on your own software/hardware, then upload back through the dashboard. Typical effort: 4–8 hours over the test window (~5 days).

It depends on the role — check the role detail in the position card. Most junior and mid-level roles are hybrid (2–3 days/week onsite in Jakarta). Senior leads and editing roles are typically onsite. We don't currently hire fully remote outside Jakarta — the studio time is part of how mentorship works here.

No. Bahasa Indonesia is our internal working language and is sufficient for every role. Working English helps for client-facing work, and basic Japanese is a plus for senior roles partnered with Japanese publishers — but neither is a requirement to apply or grow here.

We benchmark against the upper third of the Indonesian webtoon market for each role + level, with annual reviews tied to the Junior → Mid → Senior → Lead progression. Specific ranges are shared at the offer stage — we'll never lowball, and we'll never ghost on numbers.

Drop us a line through the contact form anyway. We run 3–4 batches a year, and exceptional senior portfolios sometimes get reviewed off-cycle for specific roles.

Yes. We hire at the junior level every batch, and student portfolios are welcome — we read for craft, not credentials. If you can show clean fundamentals (anatomy, perspective, color theory, composition), the rest is teachable.
